You definitely need someone to count on like 1, 2, 3, because we all believe sey we no dey cut money from a tree.

You definitely need someone who doesn't just know numbers but also knows management.

My name is Nwankpa Emmanuel Obioma in the Faculty of Management Science, Department of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management, currently in my penultimate year, vying for the post of the financial Secretary in this great Hall.

Of course, we all know that the lifeblood or success of any organisation is dependent on its limited resources and as rational beings, we always want to derive maximum utility at the lowest cost. Right? Yes! 

Based on these fundamentals, I stand before this august gathering to solicit for your unreserved support to emerging as the financial Secretary of this great hall in return for value and adventurous returns within my reach and capability.

As your incoming principal financial Secretary, I'm saddled with the responsibility of sourcing, allocating and managing of funds of this great hall.

Without much ado, I'll like to enunciate some of my intentions:

The primary objective of the financial Secretary is the drafting and preparation of the Budget and financial statement of the hall.

Drafting of a proposed budget in respect to all the income and expenditure for all events organised in the hall. This will help us to prioritize effectively and focus on what is most important and filter irrelevancies to avoid shortage or wastage of funds.

Also, the preparation of the financial statements.  This will help us to determine the current financial position in terms of the finance of the hall whether we're operating at a surplus or deficit and proactively source and inject more funds judiciously with prudency and other concepts in mind to areas demanding immediate attention and action.

Regularly updating of the budget to accommodate new ideas that would be relevant for the going forward of the hall. This will help us to know when there are discrepancies between the cashbook and the bank statement and make plans to reconcile the disagreement to prevent any financial crisis or correct any differences that might have occurred.

Appointment of some members of the hall to act as an advisory committee in providing more valuable, defined, clear and qualified ideas to facilitate decision making.

Effective communication and feedback to all members of the committee to avoid information gab.

However, the ultimate goal is the general welfare and growth of all students in the hall. This would be possible by working as a team to achieve collective goals.

Sometimes, mistakes or misunderstandings over issues of financial and personal interest might arise among members of the committee. In that regard, I'll maintain globally recognised standards, ethics, consultations, research and good conduct with integrity, accountability and transparency in all my dealings at all times.

With God, your support and my personal experiences we will transform mariere and make history together. 

Distinguished fellow kings and Gentlemen, I therefore entreat you to support and vote for me (NWANKPA EMMANUEL OBIOMA) as the new financial Secretary of this hall.

Your unreserved support is the beginning of this journey, which will definitely bring about adventurous returns.

  University of Lagos MARIERE HALL. ( ...on a platter of Gold ) A Brief Minute Of The Meeting. The meeting was scheduled on 17th of February, 2022 and to commence at 8:00 pm prompt. However,  owing to certain logistics the meeting started a few minutes late at the Prayer devotion ground in Mariere hall. The meeting was spearheaded by ( hall chair) while the ( PRO) led the prayer session.
