How to Develop interpersonal relationship especially if you are shy?
Human interaction is inevitable. How then do we develop interpersonal relationship especially if we're shy?
By nature man is a social animal. No man is born in isolation.
Some believe that we're born with innate ideas and abilities, while some believe that certain things need to be thought, learnt or transmitted .
However , with respect to shyness as one factor affecting healthy interaction, it's pertinent to note that quite a number of people are involved and you're not alone in this struggle to overcome shyness.
Many had moved from shyness to super shyness simply because they kept mute.
Don't be afraid to tell people that you're shy and you would be surprised of how people would be willing to assist you
Shyness might be attributed to ones orientation, family background, environment, or experience etc.
Being shy doesn't translate to being an introvert. That a person enjoys being alone doesn't really mean he/she is shy.
The root cause of shyness is personality or self image.
In some situation, some just feel excessively embarrassed and uncomfortable because of their voice , Look, body type or shape, colour, or status etc.
In order to cope, some who suffer the extreme case of shyness resort to alcohol
However, to overcome shyness, you need to understand the circumstances that trigger your shyness.
This calls for the need to develop and improve one's self to fit into a particular environment or culture.
Conscious effort to change your mental state and perspective regarding those circumstances should be exerted.
Remember that breaking out of your shell doesn't magically happen overnight.
It takes time, effort, and of course, the desire to change.
Cultivate a positive outlook and be very optimistic when you're in the company of others
Maintain eye contact as a sign of confidence and good listening
Improve your communication skills and be assertive in your manner and approach. It should be done with empathy to initiate feedback.
Sometimes shyness is a phase -- many people grow more confident and outgoing with age.
Don't go about trying to change yourself unless it truly makes you unhappy; you
may grow out of it with time.
