Dear Governor Okowa,


I am Femi Fatukasi, the current seating Student Chairperson of MARIERE HALL OF RESIDENCE, UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS. This landmark hostel was erected to immortalize Chief Samuel Jereton MARIERE, a son of Delta soil, a titan in his time; a national figure; a prominent founding chancellor of the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka. The first governor of the former Midwest Region, Chief MARIERE was a prominent Deltan, luminary, trailblazer and portal to greatness in all spheres.


I put this to you dear Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Chief Samuel Jereton MARIERE is too big to be forgotten by the entirety of Delta. Chief Onanefe Ibori, the former Governor of Delta State in 2004 retouched the aesthetic state of MARIERE HALL whilst also erecting the first live-size statue in

the entire university, of Chief MARIERE, which is now a sore to sight. Hitherto, the entire hall lacks shimmer, sheen and colourfulness. There is a need to touch up the Chief MARIERE status and Baluba spirit within it.


We, the student representatives of this student hall, hereby solicit humbly, dear Governor Okowa, a quick intervention in the state of being throughout the hostel, so much so that it reclaim for the Deltan people and to the honour of Chief Samuel Jereton MARIERE:


• A sense of good PR. Every session, we have 7 days set aside for fun fair, games, sales, get together, fellowship and colorful ceremonial splendour. Which it would be the most gracious honour and will go down history in the University of Lagos, if our dear Governor and Chief MARIERE family both home and abroad can attend in person. We’d also love to involve the ministry of information (The DBS can also be on ground), because it would be nice to watch this dream as a documentary.


• A strong aura of presence across our student community.


• Lastly, a promotional repertoire of efficiency and functionality for goodly consumption of every STUDENT RESIDENT in MARIERE HALL.


On this note, we want our hall-Baluba Kingdom; as famously known throughout the university, to retain its number one spot of influence and pathfinder nature.


With all this said, I and my excos would like to seek a formal invitation from you, our dear Governor, to meet you in person and relate more about our predicament, desires, and joy.


We will be glad if you bring our heartburns to a remedial state.

  University of Lagos MARIERE HALL. ( ...on a platter of Gold ) A Brief Minute Of The Meeting. The meeting was scheduled on 17th of February, 2022 and to commence at 8:00 pm prompt. However,  owing to certain logistics the meeting started a few minutes late at the Prayer devotion ground in Mariere hall. The meeting was spearheaded by ( hall chair) while the ( PRO) led the prayer session.
