Growth Mindset

*Mindsets of Greatness* Your mind, more than anything, is the single most powerful tool for birthing greatness and fulfilling your destiny. To make the most of it, there are three mindsets that will help. The first is a growth mindset. A growth mindset never stops growing. The moment your mind ceases to learn and assimilate new methods and perspectives, that’s the same moment it begins to lose its potential for greatness. Learn from other people, observe your environment, get varying perspectives, read, stay current, watch the news, engage in meaningful dialogues, watch inspirational movies; these are simple ways to sharpen your growth mindset. The second is a possibility mindset. Whatever your mind can conceive, it can achieve. This is the mantra of a possibility mindset. Even the Holy Book says, “All things are possible to those who believe.” A possibility mindset is a positive mindset that stays optimistic in tough and hard times. No matter how seemingly unachievable things see...

ALX- Leadership and Adventure

Leadership and every other positive adventure in life comes with inherent risk and challenges. Some leaders had confronted these challenges by inscribing their names onto stone, while some other leaders have sought to mold future generations through instilling a call to action. Nelson Mandela, once said, “Every now and then, a generation is called upon to be great. You can be that great generation”. Considering who and what Nelson Mandela represents, for you to be free is not merely to cast one’s chain, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.  The goal of HRDW is to transform the next generation of Africans by 2035. So, applying for HRDW software engineering scholarship prograamme despite not having a laptop was a challenge but I took it as a motivation bought a new laptop and ready to learn and impact global @hrd_workshop

How can we save the naira from hitting 1,000 per dollar?

In the past few weeks, I have written extensively about the naira and Nigeria’s foreign exchange regime. As a result, I have got quite a lot of feedback from virtually all strata of society. Through it all, one thing has remained constant: How can we save the naira from hitting 1,000 per dollar? As of September 27, 2021, the naira had touched another low of 580 per dollar at the parallel market. That is a fine of N420 from N1,000. But in these conversations on and off social media, Nigerians are quick to say, “the naira will soon hit 1,000 per dollar”. Sadly, history teaches these conversations may be exaggerated, but they are not totally out of line. In an interview with Punch, Taiwo Oyedele, Fiscal Policy Partner at PwC, was asked if Nigeria should redenominate the naira by removing a few zeros to make the naira seem strong. He said no, that the Ghana plan doesn’t take the problem away. He argued that even if the naira exchanged at 1,000 per dollar, that may not be as big a problem a...

LECTURERS WILL NEVER TELL YOU THIS IN THE UNIVERSITY

If you are invited for a job interview, at the entrance of the gate or within the Organization's premises: 1.Politely greet everybody. I have seen MDs and Managers disguise and stand at the gate to observe interviewees. 2. Do not go inside and start charging your phone or begin to look for where to charge your phone. 3. Do not go inside and begin to chat with your phone or make unnecessary calls. Put the phone inside your bag. They could be monitoring you through the camera.  4. Avoid too much talk with fellow interviewees. Don't go there and begin to argue about the government of the day, escalated food prices and even lack of employment opportunities. Just be calm and positive. 5. Don't start praying and speaking in tongues to demonstrate your religiosity and closeness to God. Pray at home before going. 6. If they offer you Tea or food, Please reject it politely and thank them. You can take after the interview. If you take that Tea or food, you are out.  7. Don't chew...

Global Daily Motivationals

It's never too late to become what you might have been - George Elliot "It looks far because you didn't start, start and it becomes close". Too many cults at the top. Everyone built their community. Don't get up alone, you will be starved. The doors are so closed at the top. You think you will be welcomed because you are successful. The damnation voice at the top is so loud. Like one thrown into the ocean without life support. You need a large chunk of people to dilute it. Reconnection will be everything. As you grow, you won't get genuine advice. It gets lonelier as the table gets bigger. Success is certainly deceitful. It takes a lot more to survive.  "Unless & until the neglected stone becomes the cornerstone organizations & countries would remain poor". Nothing you see is Real. Everything you hear is an opinion not the fact. Everything you see is a perspective not the truth. Know where to make an effort. Live by your instinct and conquer...

High Tick Up in the Use of POS in Nigeria.

Is there still any strategy that this present administration had not explored or is it not just working? I think We need more brilliant minds like you to change things and salvage these forex crisis, insecurity and other leakages responsive for Nigeria's down turn. With the consistent tick up in inflation rate to 18.64%, month-on-month basis for July 2022 the highest for the past 17years  by NBS as a result of food and core index, and highlights from NESG,  no doubt it's good to understand these inherent risks and investment objectives. CBN is currently holding on to Money, People are stranded even at the Airport, the economy is at a downturn. Investing now the talk of the town. I know they will say you have the skills and knowledge but not passionate. "You're over- qualified but not best fit" Na why some wey no get certificate or inexperience dey lead and hold positions. Na still because of this certificate many of us still dey school with the asuu strike and ins...

ASUU Updates: Students' Perspectives

Can the Minister of Education singlehandedly resolve this ongoing strike?   "Only the gods have an answer". However, We know the Minister of Education cannot suddenly become silent and invisible to it's chief priest. As it stands Indefinite strike action is looming! This just announced Rollover was envisage, but Indefinite or 2years is still a rumour that can be averted. Hence, a Clarion call and a rollover of 1month for the FG and it's  Ministers involved to re-appear, speak up, Act and less political optimism and diplomacy !!! Like I earlier informed on major top groups. It's a situation of what's fair and reasonable.  However, on a lighter note, I think It's an abuse of intellect to re-direct students to sue employees(Asuu) for protesting bad working conditions and not the employer who is technically the proprietor of our schools and the beneficiary of the school fees we pay. Counting our losses in terms of lost opportunities as a result of time wasted ...

I guess that's a summary of many career person's dilemma. Please, Check the link below for more details about the frog. Technically, Every candidates, students, or workers stand a better position when you say he /she is not best fit, or passionate; does not deserve the crown/award/nomination/position/promotion or a cheat etc, despite all the relevant visible experiences, recommendations endorsements, certifications from credible personalities and organizations. Can a person be optimistic and not passionate? ...

CHIEF SAMUEL JERETON MARIERE HALL, UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS; A MOVIE/DOCUMENTARY.

CHIEF SAMUEL JERETON MARIERE HALL, UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS; A MOVIE/DOCUMENTARY. Dear Governor Okowa, I am Femi Fatukasi, the current seating Student Chairperson of MARIERE HALL OF RESIDENCE, UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS. This landmark hostel was erected to immortalize Chief Samuel Jereton MARIERE, a son of Delta soil, a titan in his time; a national figure; a prominent founding chancellor of the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka. The first governor of the former Midwest Region, Chief MARIERE was a prominent Deltan, luminary, trailblazer and portal to greatness in all spheres. I put this to you dear Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Chief Samuel Jereton MARIERE is too big to be forgotten by the entirety of Delta. Chief Onanefe Ibori, the former Governor of Delta State in 2004 retouched the aesthetic state of MARIERE HALL whilst also erecting the first live-size statue in the entire university, of Chief MARIERE, which is now a sore to sight. Hitherto, the entire hall lacks shimmer, sheen and ...

Discussion: HR Career Trajectory

Alot of us are still very uncertain about what we want to become in the HR field.  Yes, you want to be a professional that is chartered or certified.  But the thing is HR is a big picture with my sub-systems and career paths you can follow through.  Remember, you cannot always be the Jack of all trade if you are to become a go to person in the HR field. HR is beyond hire and fire.  HR is beyond Generalist and Specialist.  The question is:  Specialist in what ❓  Kindly note 🔅 *HR careers are not linear. They are diverse.*  🔅 *There is no one-size fits-all solution to determining the right career path as it varies with your ambition, interests, and skills* .  HR Career roles could fall under 4 major quadrants.  1️⃣. Service Provider 2️⃣. Solution Provider 3️⃣. Advisory  4️⃣. Strategic Before the end of the session,  we would be asking questions on which HR role is a right fit into any of the above quadrant.  First right re...

Gen Z versus HR Managers: Clash of the Titans

Take a look at the different generations in the workplace, and the years they were born in to see which generation you’re a part of: Traditionalists (1928-1945) Baby boomers (1946-1964) Generation X (1965-1980) Generation Y (1981-1996) Generation Z (1997-2015)  At our respective places of work, we have these categories of team members even though retirement age is 60 for females and 55 for males. We still have company owners, blue collar jobbers who still work in our work environment. will touch each of them and then move to the major competitors at workplace. So the traditionalists are people born 1928-1945, make up about 3% of the workforce today. As children, this generation was expected to be seen and not heard in their typical environment. Most of their parents raised them with strict rules and high expectations, giving them the drive to attain the goals they set out for themselves. My dad will always refer to how his dad used to handle him when he was young. He will be like t...
